About The Role

We’re thrilled to be opening a brand-new education site in Peppermint Grove in January 2026, and we’d love you to join our team!

Cater Care is partnering with one of the region’s prestigious schools to deliver exceptional food services to students and staff. We’re looking for a passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen and create delicious, nutritious meals every day.

In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, lead and manage a team of chefs and kitchen staff, plan menus, and ensure meals are tasty, balanced, and high quality. You’ll also maintain smooth operations, uphold food safety standards, and foster a positive kitchen culture.

Training will begin in early to mid-January, with the site opening shortly after. You’ll enjoy on-site parking plus easy access to public transport - with bus routes nearby making your commute simple and convenient.

Roster: Monday to Friday | 11:00 am - 7:00 pm during school terms
There is potential to work 1 weekend day per term to increase salary and earn paid leave during school term breaks.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and inspire a team of chefs, kitchen hands, and catering assistants
  • Create exciting menus for daily meals, events, and special functions
  • Cook and deliver fresh, delicious meals that fuel students and staff
  • Manage stock, ordering, and food cost control
  • Champion food safety and hygiene standards across the kitchen
  • Oversee service during the dinner shift, working alongside another chef to ensure everything runs smoothly until the end of service

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • A trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • A valid Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (mandatory)
  • Experience in bulk cooking and catering for functions
  • A natural leader with the ability to manage and inspire a team
  • A friendly and professional attitude with excellent customer service skills
  • A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive work environment

What’s in It for You

  • Award pay + Super (Education site salary based on 40 weeks)
  • Great work-life balance with school term schedules
  • Uniform provided
  • Staff benefits and retail discounts (450+ stores nationwide!)
  • Training and support for further skills
  • Access to EAP services via Acacia Connection
