Job Description

Rediscover the Sun with the Roster You Didn’t Think Was Possible

Position: Chef

Job Type: Permanent Part-Time (Fri-Sun 9am–5:30pm | Mon-Tue 6am–2:30pm)

Pay: $32.00/hr Base + Strong Weekend Penalty Rates

Location: Anglican Care Brown Lodge, Booragul

Most chefs only see the sun through a kitchen window or on their one day off. We’re changing that at Booragul with a roster that hands you your afternoons back and pays you a premium to keep them.

If you’re a culinary professional who’s ready to trade the "burnout" for a lakeside lifestyle and a career that actually fits your life, this is the move.

What’s In It For You

  • Finish at 2:30 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays—half your week is yours before the day is even done.
  • Wrap up by 5:30 PM on weekends, leaving your evenings wide open for family, friends, or yourself.
  • Earn a solid $32 base rate with heavy weekend penalties to significantly boost your take-home pay.
  • Enjoy every Wednesday and Thursday off—the ultimate mid-week break to avoid the weekend crowds.
  • Secure a permanent part-time contract with a leading 100% Australian-owned provider in a beautiful lakeside location.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and serve fresh, high-quality meals that become the highlight of our residents' day.
  • Master specialized dietary requirements, ensuring every plate is as nutritious as it is visually appealing.
  • Oversee the kitchen with professional autonomy, maintaining a calm and efficient service environment.
  • Uphold gold-standard food safety, hygiene, and HACCP documentation without the short-order chaos.
  • Lead with pride, ensuring the kitchen remains the heart of the home for our Booragul community.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum) is a non-negotiable for this professional role.
  • Extensive experience in high-volume catering, hotels, or health environments is highly valued.
  • Deep understanding of food safety protocols and professional kitchen compliance standards is essential.
  • Immense pride in every dish served, from the first prep to the final plate presentation.
  • Self-motivated mindset with the ability to run a service independently and keep a cool head.
  • Genuine compassion for the elderly and a desire to use culinary skills to improve their quality of life.
