The key to our success is our people. In this role, you will provide friendly, attentive, and efficient service through the preparation and cooking of a variety of meals, ingredient preparation, and food service for our valued residents.
This is a hands-on position requiring you to prepare and cook meals for our valued residents, alongside our Head Chef & Second Chef.
Roster (Position starts Term 1, 2025)
Days: Five days a week during term time
Example shifts:
Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Monday to Friday, 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
Note: Roster may vary depending on functions, so flexibility is essential
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Work alongside the Head Chef & 2nd Chef to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students
Plan menus and cook nutritious homestyle meals, including freshly baked morning/afternoon tea, hot lunches, soups, evening meals, and desserts
Consider special dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and supplements
Prepare high-end food for various functions throughout the year
Assist with the management of a small kitchen team, including training, development, motivation, and encouraging staff productivity
Build and maintain key relationships with residents, the culinary team, clients, and management
Ensure strict adherence to Food Safety practices, HACCP standards, and WH&S principles
Desired Skills and Experience
Key essential criteria:
Minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience in a busy kitchen
Strong working knowledge of Food Safety
Valid Driver’s License
Passion for great food and excellent customer service
Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Commitment to team development and leadership
Pride in personal hygiene and professional presentation
