Relief Chef Manager - Lead Kitchen Operations Across Queensland
Position: Full-Time Roster: 40 hours per week - flexible to meet business needs Location: Brisbane-based with travel to sites across Queensland (Ballina to Townsville) - accommodation provided when required
Position Overview
Cater Care is seeking an experienced Relief Chef Manager to oversee kitchen operations across aged care and education facilities in Queensland.
This role offers an opportunity to lead large-scale meal production, manage diverse teams, and ensure the consistent delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals that meet dietary and food safety standards. The position also provides variety in working locations and cuisine, structured work hours, and the support of a reputable national catering organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen operations and bulk meal production
Prepare and present meals according to menu plans and dietary requirements
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards
Manage stock, inventory, and kitchen budgets effectively
Lead, mentor, and motivate kitchen teams to perform at their best
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
Adapt operations to suit different sites and menus as required
Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills and Experience
Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
Food Safety Supervisor qualification
Current Driver’s Licence and own vehicle
Experience in high-volume catering, aged care, or education settings preferred
Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently under time-sensitive conditions
Commitment to delivering high-quality, consistent meals and positive service
Current Police Clearance and Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
