Second Chef - Calm, Professional Healthcare Kitchen
Location: Mt Eliza, VIC Salary: Circa $75K - $80K + Super (depending on experience) Roster: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 10:00am - 6:30pm
Cater Care is seeking a passionate and reliable Second Chef to support the Head Chef at a wellness and mental health facility in Mt Eliza.
This is not your typical high-pressure kitchen role. Our site operates within a healthcare environment, where food is an important part of wellbeing, comfort, recovery, and routine.
We’re looking for a chef who brings both strong cooking skills and a calm, supportive approach to the kitchen. Someone who values consistency, teamwork, and creating meals that genuinely make people feel cared for.

Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including coordination of staff, rosters, and training
Undertake hands-on cooking across bulk meal preparation and tray service
Prepare high-volume meals to specification with consistent quality, presentation, and timing
Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, cost management, and waste reduction
Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, WHS, and cleanliness standards
Support clear communication between Kitchen and Front of House to ensure smooth service delivery
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
Trade qualified Chef (Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
Previous experience as a Chef or Second Chef in high-volume institutional or healthcare catering
Current driver’s licence, reliable transport, and valid Australian work rights
Professional Requirements
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain on commencement)
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace standards in a healthcare environment
Clear, respectful communication and ability to support team coordination
