Second Chef - Calm, Professional Healthcare Kitchen

Location: Mt Eliza, VIC
Salary: $75,000 + Super
Roster: Monday to Friday | 10:00am - 6:30pm

Cater Care is seeking a Second Chef to support the Head Chef at a wellness and mental health facility in Mt Eliza.

This is a great opportunity for a chef looking for a structured, Monday-to-Friday role in a supportive environment. Working in a healthcare setting, you’ll prepare meals for up to 60 guests on a four-week cycle menu, where food plays an important role in wellbeing, comfort and recovery.

We’re looking for a chef with strong cooking skills who takes pride in quality, consistency and teamwork, and enjoys creating food that genuinely makes a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations, including staff coordination, rosters and training
  • Prepare and cook high-volume meals and tray service, ensuring consistent quality, presentation and timing
  • Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, costs and waste
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, WHS and kitchen cleanliness
  • Work closely with the Kitchen and Front of House teams to ensure smooth and efficient service

Desired Skills and Experience

What You’ll Bring

  • Trade-qualified Chef with experience in high-volume catering, ideally healthcare or institutional
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
  • Current driver’s licence, reliable transport and valid Australian work rights
  • Flu vaccination and National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain
