Job Description

The Role:

Being a Relief Chef Manager in Aged Care & Education offers you a real way to make a difference whilst remaining in an industry you enjoy. (Great news if you’re looking for a fresh start.) Serving these sectors requires a passion for creating great food, with the emphasis on ensuring meals are balanced to support the unique health and nutritional needs of the residents. Getting a start in this industry opens doors to develop greater skills in menu management, large scale food production and more. 

The role will require you to travel to sites located between Ballina and Townsville, accommodation will be provided where required.

As a Chef Manager working for Cater Care you can rest easy knowing you have job security. You’ll work with a great team of people dedicated to supporting some of Australia’s most vulnerable people, and you’ll make a difference every single day.

Roster: 40 hours per week, days and time will vary

What does a day in the life of a Chef at Cater Care look like?

  • Food preparation and presentation of all meals served in a 4 week menu
  • Adherence to dietary requirements (allergies, special requests)
  • Creative flair with presentation
  • Ensure compliance to the Food safety program
  • Stock ordering, rotation and stocktaking
  • Maintaining budgetary KPIs
  • Maintain a clean kitchen, equipment and utensils
  • Adherence to legislated food hygiene and general safety practices
  • Fast, effective service provided with a smile
  • Assisting the broader team as required
  • Demonstrate a strong safety culture aligned with the Cater Care Safety Commitments
  • Variety in working locations & cuisine
  • Leading a diversity of teams to perform at their best
  • Opportunities to travel in Queensland

  • A commitment to genuine, friendly customer service
  • A motivated, enthusiastic and positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Pride in personal appearance & hygiene
  • First rate safety focused attitude
  • Must have your own vehicle and driver's licence
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (high volume bulk cookery experience is highly regarded but is not essential).
  • Ability to obtain a current Police clearance and Working with Children Blue Card.
