About the role:
Join Cater Care as a Full-Time Commis/Demi Chef at our Parkville education site!
You’ll work alongside a close-knit team to prepare meals for the school’s boarding and retail community. This hands-on role involves ingredient prep, following recipes, assisting senior chefs, managing stock, and keeping your workstation spotless - all while maintaining the highest hygiene and food safety standards in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Salary: $30/hr base rate + Super (Negotiable for the right candidate, with potential for additional hours.)
Roster:
Mon: 9:30 - 17:30
Tue & Thu: 6:30 - 15:00
Wed: 11:00 - 19:00
Fri: 14:00 - 19:00
What this role involves:
Assist in the preparation and service of fresh, nutritious meals, including bulk cooking
Support kitchen operations by performing various tasks such as dishwashing and cleaning kitchen and dining areas
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace in compliance with health and safety regulations
Work independently while delivering excellent customer service
Collaborate with the kitchen team as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience assisting in kitchens and food preparation
Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
Experience in school catering (desirable)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong communication, time management, and attention to detail
