Our Catering team in the Eastern Region is seeking skilled Chefs to become part of our newly established Full-Time Relief Pool Team

This position will involve providing coverage for staff leave across various locations, as well as engaging in a range of additional responsibilities, including mobilisations, shutdowns and importantly, mentoring newcomers to the industry. This is why we are in search of a unique type of Chef. Working as a Chef in the FIFO/BIBO/DIDO sector differs significantly from traditional hospitality roles, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking a new beginning. While a passion for crafting exceptional meals is essential, the focus will be on preparing nutritionally balanced dishes that meet the energy needs of demanding positions, such as those in mining. Entering this industry offers the chance to enhance skills in menu management, large-scale food production, and more. Sites range within our CCS Eastern Division from Sydney, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Emerald, Rockhampton, Dysart, Townsville, Cairns, Burnie, Adelaide etc.

Job Description

A typical day for a Chef at Cater Care involves various responsibilities, including:

  • Preparing and presenting meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and special events.
  • Ensuring that dietary restrictions, such as allergies and special requests, are strictly followed.
  • Complying with our Food Safety Program to maintain high standards.
  • Assisting in the ordering, rotation, and inventory management of stock.
  • Keeping the kitchen, equipment, and utensils in a clean and organized state.
  • Following all food hygiene regulations and general safety protocols.
  • Delivering prompt and friendly service to guests.
  • Collaborating with the wider team as needed.
  • Upholding a strong safety culture that aligns with Cater Care's Safety Commitments

Desired Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate, will require the following:  
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification (experience in high-volume bulk cooking is highly valued but not mandatory)  
  • Capability to function effectively both independently and collaboratively with team members  
  • A dedication to providing authentic and friendly customer service  
  • A driven, enthusiastic, and positive attitude with a 'can-do' spirit  
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, occasionally for extended durations  
  • A strong sense of personal appearance and hygiene  
  • A top-notch safety-oriented mindset  
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last six months
